Recovery Programmes

Recovery from domestic abuse is a journey towards your final destination. And finding that destination is what the journey is all about.

We recognise that sometimes the hardest part of having been in an abusive relationship is being able to process the impact of the experience and finding your way back to a life on your own terms. We understand that that this journey takes courage and learning and can be difficult to navigate. We at Next Chapter have a range of recovery support options to help our clients to start this journey and to build their knowledge and understanding of how to regain a self of  themselves and how to focus on finding their next chapter.

Once your support though our community or refuge services is concluded we have a number of ways that you can continue on your quest to find your ever after. There is no limit to how many programmes you can access. We would recommend that you complete the Ready to RISE programme before you attend RISE. You are welcome to join our coffee mornings whenever you feel ready.

Ready to RISE

This is a self-guided online learning programme made up of 7 sessions. Once you are registered onto this programme you have access to it for up to 12 months so you are able to go over the materials as and when you need to. The programme looks at what is abuse in the context of why is has a lasting impact which is the key to unlocking a way to move forward in healing and restoring confidence in yourself.

RISE

The aim of The RISE programme is for women to recognise the abuse that they have experienced and begin to take back control of their lives. We explore the tools needed to fully let go of past experiences and no longer allow the past to define the future.

We feel the best way to do this is to nourish self-esteem and strengthen self-confidence. By working on these things, the hope is that a sense of RESILLIENCE will grow like a suit of armour and no matter what bumps you face in the road ahead, survivors have the STRENGTH to remain strong and follow their INDEPENDENT path because they are EMPOWERED and have taken back the control for their own destiny and happiness.

We have created a programme that is suitable for all to enjoy and learn from and whilst we recognise that everyone’s story is different, and everyone’s needs are different – we hope everyone can get fromit what they need to heal and to move forward to write their Next Chapter.

The RISE programmes is a 5 session group facilitated programme led by a Domestic Abuse professional. The cohorts are run face to face across North and Mid Essex and we also run these online. We run groups during term time and we run them during school hours and the evenings.

RISE is also available to Men on a 1-1 or group basis depending on numbers

Coffee mornings

We run a number of coffee mornings across North and Mid Essex for women who have been through our services. We recognise that for some of our clients, the support they gain from meeting with others who have been through similar experiences is an important part of the healing journey as the mutual understanding of their experiences and the companionship that this brings helps to restore confidence and reduce isolation.

Volunteer 1-1 Empowerment Support

We are very lucky to have a team of dedicated volunteers who we hand pick to offer that little bit extra empowerment support through our telephone befriending service to those clients that need more support to start their journey of recovery.

If you are interested in volunteering with Next Chapter and think you have what it takes to make a difference to the lives of anyone affected by domestic abuse we are very keen to hear from you!

We ask for at least one hour per week of your time and will provide you with the tools and training to be able to support our clients who need a compassionate and empathetic, non-judgemental ear to listen to them and support them on their journey to recovery.
