We are Next Chapter, a domestic abuse charity that provides free and confidential services to support people who are currently experiencing, or have previously experienced, domestic abuse. We work across Tendring, Colchester, Maldon, Chelmsford, Braintree and Uttlesford.

Formerly known as Colchester & Tendring Women's Refuge, our mission is to provide rapid responses that increase safety for all victims, enabling them to rebuild their lives and create lasting change.

We are looking for two Family Domestic Abuse Practitioners to join us on a permanent contract.

The Role

As a Family Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you will provide specialist domestic abuse support to parents and their children.

In this important role, you’ll work with our Youth Domestic Violence Advisors within the wider CYP service and with our Independent Domestic Violence Advisors and Domestic Abuse Practitioners in our Adult Services, working together to support rebuilding family bonds and increasing the resilience of families as a whole.

Specifically, you will:

- Work as part of the Children & Young People’s Service to accept and manage referrals
- Carry out initial needs and risk assessments
- Provide a needs-led, trauma-sensitive approach to supporting service users and their children
- Ensure that families have robust safety support plans in place
- Support children and young people through 1:1 work, family and group activities


About You

To join us as a Family Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you will need experience of the following:

- Working with children, young people and families experiencing domestic abuse
- Working with vulnerable and challenging children and their families
- Running/delivering groups with children and parents
- Working alongside other agencies

Experience of any of the following would be beneficial: partnership working and representing organisations at external meetings and conferences, working in a community or voluntary organisation, using qualitative and quantitative data in the compilation of written reports or creating and delivering domestic abuse awareness and training packages for professionals and volunteers.

This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis.
